UNESCO World Book Day with TANGO

April 23 @ 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Discover the story of Tango, a romance comic-book anthology published in Melbourne between 1997 and 2009 by Bernard Caleo of Cardigan Comics.

The Tango project aimed to develop local comic-book culture by showcasing the work of established and emerging makers, many of whom went on to find success as cartoonists.

This community of like-minded practitioners and enthusiasts together made comics about love with love for more than a decade.

About the presenter
Bernard Caleo is a performer and comic book maker. He edited and published Tango, the giant romance comics anthology, from 1997 to 2012. As a State Library Victoria Creative Fellow he and his collaborator Alex McDermott undertook research for their historical graphic novel about the decline and fall of Marvellous Melbourne, The devil collects.

Celebrate UNESCO World Book Day with this series of pop-up talks in the World of the book exhibition and other special events. See what else is happening at the Library on World Book Day.
