A new comic book about a focus group protesting the extinction of the human race.

Nicola Gunn is a Melbourne based writer, director and performer. MP Fikaris is a Melbourne based visual artist, editor and publisher.

Four strangers show up for a focus group to workshop the problem of dying. Their conversation swings from the profound to the ludicrous, dissecting the squirmy side of human behaviour and our capacity for both immense apathy and overwhelming compassion.

Adapted from Gunn’s 2014 stage play, GREEN SCREEN, Instruction Manual for Lonely Mountains is smart, funny and heartfelt.

MP Fikaris is the lead artist on this new work, which was supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants Program. He has just returned from two artist residencies in Europe supported by Australia Council for the Arts.

REVIEWS OF PREVIOUS WORK BY NICOLA GUNN:

“Comic Genius… Gunn’s text is intricate and often brilliant, full of unpredictable digressions and curious factoids. It’s the verbal equivalent of skimming stones over water.”

“Green Screen is that rare, perfect creature: a piece that asks you to draw your own conclusions and lets you do just that. It feels like a living, breathing thing. This is hilarious, moving, devastatingly good theatre.”
